Connecting Through Art
A Social Project to Restore Together The Lions Project of Jerusalem
Our story began in the year 2000, when 150 sculptures of lions were sold by the Jerusalem Foundation in a public auction in Safra square JLM. They were painted by young and old artists.
The ones which were not sold were spread all over the city and forgotten.
In 2020 two artists Gali Katz and Noga Adler together with the Art department of the munitipality decided to restore them. The main goal of the project was to connect people from different backgrounds, through a shared vision of restoring the Lions.
The groups which participated were
Kulna
Nefesh Yehudi
Club House
Jlm Mothers (FB group)
The Hebrew Museum of Music
Holacaust survivors from Pisgat Zeev
and more...
